Not only was Dad a fighting man,
We kids were fighters too.
That’s what made us undefeatable –
We stuck together like glue.
Six strong kids and Super-Dad,
The captain of our crew!
Eating Dad’s disgusting nettle soup and peculiar pancakes, home haircuts, clothes donated by neighbours, punishing press-ups and being third in the bath tub. But also the fun of boxing lessons with Dad, days out, jokes, pranks – and storytelling round the fire.
Find out all about Oliver’s real-life childhood with five siblings and their amazing single dad in this funny, gripping debut poetry collection. It’s tough and there isn’t much money but there’s always lots of love and laughter.

"A remarkable first collection... some of the poems remind me of Michael Rosen's early collections. But there is a greater range here and an intention to speak up for families like the poet's." ☆☆☆☆☆
